Tijdens dit project van het Entity Collective wordt de Palestijnse film The Wanted 18 gescreend, die handelt over hoe eten een krachtig symbool van verzet is die de dagelijkse Palestijnse strijd tezamen bindt. De film wordt vooraf gegaan door een Palestijnse kookworkshop en een kleine bespreking over de werking van Entity Collective. Erna sluiten we af met een gezamenlijke maaltijd.

Tijdens de Eerste Intifada, in Beit Sahour, durfde een kleine groep Palestijnen te dromen van vrijheid — via iets zo eenvoudigs als melk. Ze richtten een lokale zuivelcoöperatie op, met achttien koeien, vastbesloten om hun gemeenschap te voeden en zich los te maken van de afhankelijkheid van Israëlische goederen. Maar deze bescheiden daad van zelfvoorziening werd al snel uitgeroepen tot een “bedreiging voor de nationale veiligheid”. Soldaten gingen op jacht naar de koeien. Hun melk werd een symbool van verzet.

Dit is het buitengewone verhaal dat wordt verteld in The Wanted 18, geregisseerd door Amer Shomali en Paul Cowan. Door animatie, archiefbeelden en diep persoonlijke getuigenissen te verweven, verandert de film de alledaagse daad van melkproductie in een krachtig metafoor voor verzet. Hij onthult zowel de absurditeit van een bezetting die bang was voor koeien als de onbreekbare geest van een gemeenschap die vecht om haar waardigheid, economie en autonomie terug te winnen.

Maar de strijd voor zelfbeschikking en creatieve overleving eindigde daar niet. Vandaag de dag draagt het pas opgerichte Entity Collective - een sociaal-culturele organisatie gevestigd in Brussel - diezelfde geest van verzet en verbeelding verder uit. Via kunst, onderzoek en samenwerking bouwt het levende bruggen tussen België en Palestina, waarbij solidariteit wordt omgevormd tot gedeelde creatie.

Tijdens deze bijzondere avond presenteert Entity Collective drie van zijn meest recente projecten:

- Palestine Beyond Reel: Gaza – Roots of Resilience,

- Palestine Beyond Reel: Toward Healing art installation.

- Collective Filmmaking and Capacity Building in Trauma-Specific School Counseling.

Dit evenement is meer dan een filmvertoning - het is een ontmoeting van harten en visies. Samen maken deze projecten van solidariteit iets blijvends, ethisch en diep menselijks.

De avond wordt afgesloten met een gezamenlijke maaltijd, bereid door een van de chefs van Entity Collective uit Gaza, die onlangs veilig in België is aangekomen.

This project by Entity Collective offers a screening of the Palestinian feature film The Wanted 18, which tells the story of the way food is a crucial symbol of resistance, unifying the daily Palestinian struggle. Preceding the screening, the Collective is organizing a Palestinian cooking workshop, after which they will share a few words about the activities of Entity Collective. After the movie, we will all enjoy a shared meal together. 

During the First Intifada, in the West Bank town of Beit Sahour, a small group of Palestinians dared to dream of freedom through something as simple as milk. They built a local dairy collective — 18 cows strong — determined to nourish their community and break free from their dependence on Israeli goods. But this humble act of self-reliance was soon declared a “threat to national security.” Soldiers hunted the cows. Their milk became a symbol of defiance.

This is the extraordinary story told in The Wanted 18, directed by Amer Shomali and Paul Cowan. Blending animation, archival footage, and deeply personal testimony, the film turns the everyday act of producing milk into a powerful metaphor for resistance. It reveals both the absurdity of an occupation that feared cows and the unbreakable spirit of a community fighting to reclaim its dignity, economy, and autonomy.

Yet the struggle for self-determination and creative survival did not end there. Today, the newly founded Entity Collective — an art and social science laboratory based in Brussels — carries forward that same spirit of resistance and imagination. Through art, research, and collaboration, it builds living bridges between Belgium and Palestine, transforming solidarity into shared creation.

On this special evening, Entity Collective will present its three most recent projects:

The Outbreaking Research Initiative: Collective Filmmaking and Capacity Building in Trauma-Specific School Counseling.

This gathering is more than a screening — it is a meeting of hearts and visions. Together, these projects transform solidarities into something lasting, ethical, and profoundly human.

The evening will also include a shared dinner prepared by one of Entity Collective’s chefs from Gaza, who has recently found safe passage into Belgium.
